Class purpose:
To help support students’ academics as well as work on individualized IEP goals. In addition to working on core subjects, we also work on study skills, organizational skills and technology skills. This class offers the chance to re-teach and/or pre-teach lessons and clarify any questions and concerns that may come up throughout the school day.

Course Description/Topics Covered:
This course represents the second half of a two-year chronological study of American History. It begins with the Reconstruction and sequentially progresses to the present day. It should be noted that essential aspects of New York State history are infused into the subject matter, in accordance with the New York State Social Studies Standards. While a traditional historical approach is emphasized, the course also incorporates other social studies disciplines such as geography, economics, sociology and political science into the curriculum. There is an emphasis on critical thinking, writing, reading, formal research, map and graph analysis and the interpretation of historical documents. The course concludes with a cumulative Final Examination that is consistent with NYSED Regents Standards.

Welcome to 8th grade Science! This year you will be introduced to topics in Physics and Living Environment/Biology. We will investigate new topics through class discussions, group assignments, projects, current events and laboratory experiences. Science is best discovered through inquiry and investigation! Throughout the year we will also be preparing for the 8th grade NYS Science Assessment which you will take at the end of the school year.
