Course Description:
This course will prepare the student for the accelerated regent’s program that begins in 8th grade. Students in Accelerated Math 7X will combine the contents of Math 7 and Math 8. In addition, students will be prepared for the state assessment administered each year and will be exposed to the format and content of these questions throughout the year. Students are expected to achieve a minimum average of 85 to remain in the course. If a student’s average drops below an 85, a conference may be held to discuss the student’s status in the program.
Topics Covered:
- Operations with Integers, Fractions and Decimals
- Properties of Rational Numbers
- Operations with Polynomials
- Factoring
- Functions(Linear and Quadratic)
- Graphing Linear functions
- Probability and Statistics
- Geometric Measurement(Perimeter, Area and Volume)
- Linear Inequalities
- Systems of Equations and Inequalities
- Proportional Relationships
- Percents
- Geometry of Angles and Triangles
Homework Policy:
The best way to learn is by practicing. Homework is your time to practice! I promise to keep homework short, meaningful and effective as long as you keep up your part and DO IT! You should make homework corrections periodically as it is gone over. It is expected that every day you record your assignment into your agenda. The homework will also be highlighted and labeled in the content library of our OneNote in the event that you forget to write it down. Also, please note sometimes you may assigned homework on Friday’s at the JR/SR High School.
Homework will be checked daily for completeness. In order to receive credit full credit for your homework, ALL WORK MUST BE SHOWN. Any homework shown that has the correct answer, however, does not have the any work shown will receive a ZERO. In the case that you receive a zero, all homework assignments made be made up for half credit if shown the next day. Many questions from your homework will appear on Do-Now, short assessments and tests and quizzes.
Grading Policy:
Quizzes: A quiz will be given periodically throughout each unit. The quizzes will be great study tools for the test at the end of each unit. There will be no retakes or quiz corrections.
Tests: A test will be given at the conclusion of every Unit. Students will receive a study guide or have an in class review the day before each test. There will be no retakes or test corrections! Grades will be posted to the portal ASAP. Quarterly tests will be given at the end of each quarter and can act as a replacement grade for your lowest test grade in that quarter.
- Tests 50%
- Quizzes 35%
- Homework 15%

Course Description:
Math 7 is about developing understanding of and applying proportional relationships; developing understanding of operations with rational numbers and working with expressions and linear equations; solving problems involving scale drawings and informal geometric constructions and working with two- and three-dimensional shapes to solve problems involving area, surface area, and volume; and drawing inferences about populations. Calculator use helps develop, rather than replace, computational skills. Basic geometric concepts are introduced and intertwined with arithmetic. Probability and statistics are studied to provide real world applications for topics previously covered. Students will be required to demonstrate their knowledge of math through applications. Introductory equation solving is also emphasized. Students will be prepared for the state assessment administered each year and will be exposed to the format and content of these questions throughout the year.

Homework will be checked daily for completeness. In order to receive full credit on homework, all work must be shown. The correct answer with no work will receive a zero. All homework assignments may be made up for half credit the next day.
Grading Policy:
*Quizzes: A quiz will be given periodically throughout each unit. The quizzes will be a great study tool for the test at the end of each unit. There will be no retakes or quiz corrections. The lowest quiz grade will be dropped at the end of each quarter.
*Tests: A test will be given at the conclusion of every unit. You will receive a study guide or have an in class review the day before each test. There will be no retakes, but you will have the opportunity to earn up to 10 points back with corrections. Test corrections will be a separate worksheet with examples of important topics from the unit. They will be given when the test is given back and are due two days later. Late corrections will not be accepted.
*At the end of each quarter, there will be a quarterly review test. This test will replace the lowest test grade that quarter.
