Hello Panthers!
What a week at Babylon Junior-Senior High School!
Our first full week of school was packed with school spirit, positive energy, and Panther Pride. From Spirit Week to Homecoming, it was incredible to see so many students, staff, parents, and community members involved in making the week such a success.
Spirit Week was a tremendous success. The creativity, participation, and enthusiasm shown throughout the week were outstanding. Thank you to our students for embracing the fun and helping create such a positive atmosphere throughout the building.
A special thank you to our PTSA and SEPTA. We greatly appreciate SEPTA and PTSA stocking our faculty room to kick off the year and supporting our staff in such a thoughtful way. We are also grateful to the PTSA for providing an ice cream treat for all students during Spirit Week. It was a huge hit and a wonderful way to celebrate together.
Thursday evening's Open House was another highlight of the week. Thank you to the many parents and families who attended. It was great to see our classrooms filled and to watch parents connect with teachers and learn more about the exciting year ahead.
Friday's Pep Rally was, without question, one of the best I have experienced. The energy in the gym was incredible. Students proudly wore their black and orange, cheered each other on, and celebrated what makes Babylon such a special place. Beyond recognizing our fall athletes, we were also able to celebrate many students who consistently do the right thing and contribute positively to our school community. It was a great reminder that excellence comes in many forms.
Friday night brought two exciting soccer victories for the Panthers. The boys started the evening with a big win, and the girls followed Under the Lights with another impressive victory. Congratulations to both teams and their coaches.
Saturday's Homecoming festivities were equally impressive. The parade brought students, families, alumni, and community members together as Babylon pride was on full display throughout the village. Following the parade, a large crowd gathered for the Homecoming football game, where the Panthers had a convincing victory. Thank you to everyone who came out to support our students and celebrate our school community.
As we return from the long weekend, our focus shifts back to consistency and strong daily habits.
A few important reminders:
- Students should arrive at school by 7:35 AM each day.
- Students should have their school ID with them every day.
- Students should bring their charged 1: 1 device to school every day.
Morning traffic flows best when everyone follows the established procedures. Please pull forward as far as possible during drop-off, use the designated crosswalks, and avoid stopping traffic unnecessarily. If students arrive between 7:00 AM and 7:35 AM, traffic generally moves very smoothly. The congestion typically begins after 7:35 AM, so a few extra minutes can make a big difference.
Finally, I'd like to share a new communication initiative. Beginning this weekend, I will be sending a "This Week at BHS" infographic every Sunday. Our goal is to provide families with one simple, easy-to-read visual highlighting important events, reminders, and upcoming activities for the week ahead. We hope this format makes it easier to stay informed, especially as ParentSquare messages can sometimes get buried among other notifications. Sunday's infographic will be the one communication you can expect from the building that day, making it easy to find and reference throughout the week.
The energy, positivity, and pride we have seen throughout the first few weeks of school have been outstanding. Thank you for your continued support as we work together to make this an amazing year for our students.
