This Week @ BHS

March 23rd

Hello Panthers!

This Week @ BHS – Spring is in the Air!

We hope you're enjoying the first days of spring—fingers crossed for some wonderful weather ahead! With Varsity and JV athletics kicking off last week and Junior High Spring sports starting tomorrow, Monday, March 24th, it’s an exciting time at BHS.

We are incredibly proud to announce our Valedictorian for the Class of 2025, Riley Altman, and our Salutatorian, Jamisyn Cerny! Congratulations to both on their outstanding achievements!

Friday’s Junior High Dance was a great success—well attended, full of energy, and yes... there was even some dancing! Looking ahead, we can’t wait for Seussical, the High School Musical, running April 4-6.

Later this week, I’ll be sharing important details about spring and end-of-year testing. In the meantime, please review this email for upcoming events and information on SEL Day, taking place on Friday, April 11th.

SEL Day - Friday, April 11th

As we head into Spring Recess, we’re excited to celebrate SEL Day on Friday, April 11th! This special day will be filled with grade-level and subject-specific activities designed to support social-emotional learning and well-being.

By popular demand, we’re bringing back "Grit and Wit," a fan favorite from last year! Students who want to participate must submit a signed waiver—these can be turned in to 1st-period teachers or the main office (if no 1st-period class). The waiver is attached to this email.
Additionally, we are launching an SEL Care Package and Supply Drive to support our community. Please check out the attached flyer for more details on how to contribute.

It’s going to be a great day—we can’t wait to see our students in action!

P.R.O.U.D. Panther Initiative & Kids in Seats Update

Great news, Panthers! Our P.R.O.U.D. Panther Initiative and Kids in Seats Program have been working together seamlessly, giving our students incredible opportunities to attend professional sports events.
So far, our lucky attendees have brought some serious good luck—we’re an undefeated 4-0 at Islanders games! This week, a group of students will be heading out to catch both the Islanders and the Brooklyn Nets in action.
And there’s more to come! We’re expecting MLB tickets for the Mets and Yankees soon, along with tickets for the Long Island Ducks, professional soccer, and hopefully more NHL and NBA games! Stay tuned for details on upcoming opportunities.
