Course Title:
Foundations of Science 7
Course Description/Topics Covered:
Foundations of Science 7 is a full-year science course that introduces the student to the scientific method through inquiry-based projects, hands-on labs, and collaborative learning groups. Students will investigate current topics in science using combinations of STEAM disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) to explore Chemistry and the Earth Sciences. Lesson plans are aligned to the New York State P-12 Next Generation Science Standards. Topics of Investigation include Matter, Changes in Matter, the Periodic Table of Elements, Earth in the Universe, Inside Earth, Earth’s Changing Surface, and Weather/Climate.
Grading Policy:
Major 60/Minor 40: Major Grades include Tests, Quizzes, and Lab Assessments. Minor Grades include Homework.
Homework Policy:
Homework is due the day after it is assigned unless a student is absent from school. All assignments can be found in the weekly homework sheet posted each Monday in TEAMs. It is the student’s responsibility to get missed assignments and notes after an absence.
