The new NYS Earth and Space Science curriculum provides a comprehensive understanding of the fundamental concepts and practices of Earth and Space Sciences. It aligns with the NYS Next Generation Science Standards and includes a variety of topics such as the Universe, the Solar System, History of Earth, Earth's Systems, Weather and Climate, Human Impact and Global Climate Change.
To receive credit for the NYS Regents Exam, students must complete 1200 minutes including 3 mandated NYS Investigative Labs and receive a passing grade of 65 on the regents and in the course.
Grades are calculated with 60% comprised of Major Assignments such as Unit Exams and Projects, with the remaining 40% comprised of Minor Assignments such as Pretests, Homework, Classwork and Labs.

Grading Policy:
• Tests = 40% o Formal: essays, multiple-choice exams, finished writing pieces, projects, presentations, etc. • Quizzes = 30% o Informal: may or may not be announced; weekly • Class Work = 15% o Informal: class preparedness, work habits, participation, completion of daily class assignments, work ethic; daily • Homework = 15 % o Informal: timely completion, quality of work, legible writing, best effort put forth, etc.
Homework Policy
: Homework is given daily, Monday -Thursday.

Class purpose:
To help support students’ academics as well as work on individualized IEP goals. In addition to working on core subjects, we also work on study skills, organizational skills and technology skills. This class offers the chance to re-teach and/or pre-teach lessons and clarify any questions and concerns that may come up throughout the school day.
